LEONARD WHITING – 70 YEARS OLD
Leonard didn’t spend much of his time in the limelight, unlike his contemporaries. However, he made the most out of it and as proof, he portrayed the most legendary and sought-after role in both film and stage industry, Romeo in the 1968 film Romeo and Juliet. He was nominated for New Star of the Year at the Golden Globe Awards for this work. He mentioned that he was personally selected from the 300 individuals that auditioned for the role.
He didn’t have much movie credits after working on the film. After that, frankly, he almost disappeared, appearing in a handful of films that didn’t get the attention or success that Romeo and Juliet did. Leonard retired from film in the mid-1970s to become a writer, though he hasn’t yet been published. Instead, he focused more on theater acting. Just a few years ago, we last saw him playing a role in the 2015 film Social Suicide which was his last public film to date.
