Denny

The bone of the teenage girl, who has been called Denny, is not the only piece of evidence that gives a huge degree of support to this hypothesis. Up until 2018, researchers had only conducted a genetic study on a relatively small population of ancient humans – 23, to be exact. Even within this tiny sample, they were able to find out that there were at least two specimens that gave evidence of interbreeding between species.

For instance, another individual known as Oase 1, is identified by their lower jaw that is fully mature. This member of Homo sapiens was found in Peștera cu Oase (The Cave with Bones) in Romania. Oase 1 is thought to have walked the entire world roughly 37,000 years ago. However, despite their recent place on the human family tree, Oase 1 was discovered to be carrying Neanderthal DNA.
