Discovery about Denny’s father
We’re not only talking about the distant past but also the recent discovery about Oase 1. According to a 2015 research published in the journal Nature, Oase 1’s Neanderthal ancestors may have been alive for four to six generations only. If interbreeding between species had occurred sporadically, Pääbo explained that discoveries like this should be few and far between.
On top of that, the research from the Max Planck Institute made further investments in knowing more about Denny. Seemingly, the teenager’s father also had Neanderthal DNA combined with his Denisovan genes, which is incredibly revealing. Pääbo added that this discovery suggests that when these groups met, they mixed quite freely with one another. By looking through a number of more than 2,000 bone fragments, Denny’s ancestors were discovered. Indeed, she is one of the first examples of interbreeding between two ancient human groups.
