The Australopithecines

Of course, there’s a fascinating tale behind this bone fragment, which tells about the first human race. As we all know, today’s people belong to the same species called Homo sapiens, which first came into view roughly 200,000 to 300,000 years ago. However, as prehistory lovers know, that has not always been the case.

History tells us that the earliest known ancestors were the Australopithecines. They were a couple of different species that had the ability to climb and walk on two legs on any flooring. They also had brains just slightly larger than apes and faces that projected outwards- lesser in females than in males. As you would imagine, they looked very different from how we, humans, appear today. According to research, the Australopithecines are distant relatives of Homo sapiens, and they first emerged in Africa over four million years ago.
