Is interbreeding possible?

The story of humankind is certainly a rich and diversified evolutionary history, with countless species of hominin thought to have coalesced alongside one another throughout the millennia. As a matter of fact, these species did not just tolerate each other’s presence. For many years, researchers and scientists have known that a degree of interbreeding started between these various groups of early humans. No one was able to prove this piece of knowledge until the recent German discovery came to light.

Although it’s repeatedly said that members of different species cannot interbreed successfully, this conclusion is somehow far from an established fact. Michael Marshall from Forbes once pointed out in his 2018 article that while a mule born from a horse and a donkey are always infertile, the outcome of several other inter-species pairings could possibly vary from animal to animal.
